J. Walt Layne lives in Springfield, Ohio. He is a veteran of the US Army, a married father of three, and a voracious reader. A prolific writer, he is the author of Frank Testimony a legal thriller set in Bedford, Mississippi in the 1950s. He is also the author and creator of The Champion City Series of pulp detective stories to be published exclusively by Pro Se Press (March 2013). He has written a laundry list of articles for Backwoodsman Magazine and is the former Op-Ed columnist for The Albany Journal (Albany, Georgia). In His Own Words- I love the craft to tellng a good story. I try to breathe real life into the characters and their surroundings. I try to put seemingly ordinary characters, some as humble as can be, in extraordinary circumstances. I don't like to compare my work to that of other writers. It is a comparisson of apples and oranges. To say one author's story isn't as good, or is better than another's is a matter of opinion and perspective. For an author to indulge in such is an act of vanity alone.

I'm both self published, and published traditionally in a variety of media- news, blogs, magazine, short stories, novellas, and novels. Fiction and non. The worst thing any author can do, and especially those who have achieved success is to discourage the efforts of others. While no one's success is guaranteed, we must all help each other the best we can.
